Embroidered Mission Quilt, Waldheim Museum
This embroidered Mission Quilt was made in the 1940s. Each square is embroidered with a German Bible verse and the name of the person who embroidered the square. All the women who made this quilt were married and used Mrs. and their husbands' initials when signing each block. No first names as would be the case now.

This quilt was made by the Mennonite women who at that time belonged to the Salem church in Waldheim, Saskatchewan. Many such quilts were made by the women of the Mennonite churches in Waldheim and were auctioned off with the money going to Mission funding, hence the name "Mission Quilts." This quilt was donated to the Waldheim Museum after being bought at an auction.
